Aesthetic and plastic surgeon Doctor Roman Merle performs botulinum toxin injections in Antibes. This medical aesthetic treatment can help to reduce facial lines/wrinkles.

When are botulinum toxin injections appropriate?

Botulinum toxin is used in this context to relax muscles that (when contracted) lead to the appearance of expression lines on the face :
– frown lines (between the eyebrows)
– crow’s feet lines
– lines on the forehead

Once injected, the muscles are no longer able to contract to the same degree, the skin relaxes, lines soften and may even disappear in some cases

Botulinum toxin injections

Very fine needles are used for Botulinum toxin injections. Dr Merle will inject several times into the muscles in the area to be treated. Results are visible 3 to 5 days after the injections have been done and will last for several months. It is possible to repeat the treatment regularly every 3 to 6 months. More definitive results will generally be achieved after 4 to 10 sessions.

What to expect following a botulinum toxin injection session ?

Soit directement derrière la glande, en avant des muscles pectoraux
(positionnement prémusculaire)

Soit plus profondément, en arrière des muscles pectoraux
(positionnement rétromusculaire)

There may be minor swelling and some redness for 20 minutes or so where the needles have been inserted, after the injections. Once the treatment is done, it is not advisable to lie down or to practice sport for 2 hours, nor should you rub or massage the face for 24 hours. Dr Merle will ask you to contract the muscles that have been injected several times each day.

Can other treatments be combined with botulinum toxin injections ?

For overall anti-aging treatment of the face, Dr Merle can also propose injections of hyaluronic acid, a chemical peel or a radio frequency treatment.
