Aesthetic and plastic surgeon Doctor Roman Merle performs buttock implant procedures in Antibes. This procedure can add volume and shape to buttocks that are considered too flat.

When is buttock implant surgery appropriate?

Having flat buttocks is generally difficult for most women to accept and can lead to decreased self-esteem, feeling uncomfortable and may even become a complex. Buttock implant procedures (also known as buttock augmentation surgery using prostheses) aim to give buttocks more volume and bounce. This procedure can be performed from the age of 18 years.

Buttock implant surgery

Buttock implants are made up of a thick, outer silicon-based sheath with highly cohesive filler inside. Implant shapes and volume vary to suit different morphologies and aesthetic expectations. With the help of Dr Merle, you will select the best implant for you, before the operation.

During the procedure, Dr Merle will make an incision in the vertical crease between the buttocks and any scars will be concealed. He will then insert the prosthesis into each gluteal muscle.

Liposuction can be performed at the same time for any sagging skin around the hips or for “love handles.” The fat that is extracted can then be re-injected into the buttocks to increase their overall volume and to re-shape them (lipofilling).

Once the operation is done, Dr Merle can also insert Redon drains to dissipate any blood that may collect around the implant. The patient will then be put into an elasticated compression bandage
A buttock implant procedure will generally take about 1h to 2h30 and is carried out under a general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic with sedation. After the procedure, the patient may be able to leave the hospital on the same day or, in some cases, may have to stay in for 24 hours.

The cost of a buttock implant procedure performed in Antibes by aesthetic and plastic surgeon Doctor Roman Merle, starts at €4500 and is not reimbursed by Social Security.

What to expect after buttock implant surgery?

Soit directement derrière la glande, en avant des muscles pectoraux
(positionnement prémusculaire)

Soit plus profondément, en arrière des muscles pectoraux
(positionnement rétromusculaire)

After surgery, some discomfort may be experienced, especially if the implants are large. Some difficulty walking, swelling and bruising often occur. Doctor Merle will be able to prescribe appropriate medication to help reduce any discomfort. You will be asked to stand upright or lie on your stomach for 2 weeks immediately after the operation.

Practicing sport is not advised for between 1 to 2 months.

The final results will be visible after about 3 months when the buttocks have become more flexible and the implants have settled in.
