Aesthetic and plastic surgeon Doctor Roman Merle performs buttock lift procedures in Antibes. This procedure can help re-shape sagging or slack buttocks.

When is a buttock lift appropriate?

With age, or sometimes when there has been a significant fluctuation in weight, buttocks can tend to drop or sag. A buttock lift literally provides “lift” and shape, while also dealing with other issues like cellulite, loss of volume and a poorly defined buttock crease. This procedure can be performed from the age of 18 years.

Buttock lift procedure

There are 3 main types of buttock lift:
– Upper Lift: when the buttocks have seriously sagged, this type of lift will allow the buttocks to be raised and any “saddlebag” issue can be corrected using liposuction. Dr Merle will remove the excess skin and fat above the buttocks and then “lift” them. The V-shaped scar above the buttocks can easily be camouflaged with a tattoo or hidden at the panty line.
– Lower lift: if the sagging only affects the lower part of the buttock, then this type of lift will allow the skin hanging down below the buttocks to be removed and the under buttock crease to be redefined. Any scar will be hidden in this crease.
– Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) or butt lipofilling: this allows buttock volume to be increased and results enhanced, in conjunction with an upper lift. Dr Merle will use fat that he has carefully removed using liposuction, to re-inject into the buttocks to improve shape and volume. When performed in conjunction with liposuction, lipofilling will help redefine proportionate contours. It can also be envisaged without undergoing a buttock lift if you want to improve shape without having scars.

An upper or lower lift will take between 1 and 2 hours to perform. It is carried out under a general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic with sedation. After the procedure, the patient may be able to leave the hospital on the same day or, in some cases, may have to stay in for 24 hours.

A Brazilian lift is performed under a general anaesthetic and usually takes around 1 to 2 hours but this will depend on the volume sought.

The cost of a buttock lift procedure performed in Antibes by aesthetic and plastic surgeon Doctor Roman Merle, starts at €3000 and is not reimbursed by Social Security.

What to expect after buttock lift surgery?

Soit directement derrière la glande, en avant des muscles pectoraux
(positionnement prémusculaire)

Soit plus profondément, en arrière des muscles pectoraux
(positionnement rétromusculaire)

After surgery, some light to moderate discomfort may be experienced: swelling and bruising often occur. Doctor Merle will be able to prescribe appropriate medication to help reduce any discomfort. You will be asked to reduce the time you spend sitting down during 2 weeks immediately after the operation. After a Brazilian lift, a compression garment will have to be worn, day and night, for 1 month.

Practicing sport is not advised for 6 weeks.

The final results will be visible after around 3 months (6 months for a Brazilian lift), when the buttocks have become suppler and the swelling has gone. It will be a year before the scar takes on its final appearance.

Can other operations be combined with a buttock lift procedure?

Dr Merle can also propose an abdominoplasty when there is an excess of fat around the tummy area.
