An otoplasty procedure will generally take about 45 minutes to perform per ear. It can be carried out under a general anaesthetic or a local anaesthetic with sedation.
Aesthetic and plastic surgeon Dr Roman Merle will make incisions that are concealed in the crease behind the ear or in the folds on the ear itself. In both cases, scars are well hidden. The skin is then lifted back and the ear cartilage is reshaped to reduce the angle at which it meets the skull. Dr Merle generally uses self-dissolving stitches and then, to provide additional support after the operation, he will secure a gauze pad on each ear by bandaging around the head.
After the procedure, you may be able to leave the hospital on the same day or, in some cases, you may have to stay in for 24 hours.
The cost of a rhinoplasty procedure performed in Antibes by aesthetic and plastic surgeon Doctor Roman Merle, starting from €600 and may be reimbursed by Social Security (in cases of significant social embarrassment and high psychological impact).
